Accessibility at Mosaic Coaching Studio
We want everyone who is asked to use Mosaic Coaching Studio — coachees, coaches, sponsors and administrators — to be able to do their work here, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, or rely on magnification or high contrast.
The standard we hold ourselves to
Mosaic Coaching Studio aims to meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 Level AA by reference through the 2017 ICT Refresh.
Where we actually stand
Partially conformant. Most of WCAG 2.1 AA is met, and some of it is not. We would rather tell you exactly which parts than claim more than we can support.
Recent work has closed, and is verified by automated tests on every change:
- Form labels, error identification, and errors announced to screen readers
- A unique, descriptive page title on every screen
- Keyboard access to every control, and focus management in every dialog
- Skip links and main landmarks across all portals
- Text contrast, including the colour a licensee chooses for their brand
- A visible edge on every form field, dark enough to find without straining
- Text alternatives for charts, and transcripts for uploaded audio
- Autofill on every form where you enter your own details, so your browser can fill it in for you
- Downloaded reports and invoices are tagged PDFs — headings, tables and reading order are marked up, each chart carries a description, and the numbers behind it follow as a real table
- Reduced-motion support
Known limitations
This is every limitation we currently know of. It is specific, and it is the one we have least control over.
- Video hosted elsewhere. Where a resource links to a video on a third-party site, captions are controlled by that site rather than by us.
How we assessed this
Every change runs an automated accessibility check (axe-core) across the main routes, plus a suite of tests that fail the build on specific regressions — an unlabelled control, a page without its own title, a dialog that does not trap focus, an error that is not announced.
What we have not done yet: this product has not been tested with a screen reader by a person. Automated tools catch roughly 30–40% of WCAG issues — they can see that a control has no label, but not whether the label makes sense, whether the focus order is sane, or whether a task can actually be completed by ear and keyboard alone. Until that testing happens we cannot tell you this product is usable, only that its markup is correct. We think you should know which of those we are claiming.
Problems, and asking for an accommodation
If something here blocks you, please tell us — it is a defect, and we would rather hear about it than have you work around it. Tell us what you were trying to do, the page you were on, and the assistive technology and browser you use, and we will come back to you.
If you need something in a different format — a report as accessible HTML rather than a PDF, for example — ask, and we will arrange it.
Contact your coaching programme administrator, who can reach us on your behalf.
